The Krays

1990

Peter Medak
Director

True story about two twin brothers who dominated the 60s London gangland scene. Ron and Reg Kray are played by two popular British musicians (the Kemp brothers from 80s chart toppers Spandau Ballet) who, by day doted on their loving mother and by night spread the fear of god among those brave enough to cross them. The public have always been split over the opinion of whether the Krays were heroes or villains, as well as whether the Kemps were the right 'actors' to portray them. Despite the obvious loopholes, the film does offer a reasonable account of what really went on for anyone unfamiliar with the history.

The 2xDVD Special Edition offers a strong commentary track from the Director and the two leading actors as well as a great documentary "The Krays: The Final Word" on disc two.
