|Real estate secretary Marion Crane (Leigh) is overwhelmed by the temptation to steal $40,000 from her boss when he entrusts her to deposit the money in the bank. Instead, she flees with the cash across the state to be with her debt-stricken boyfriend with the intention of helping him out. Tiredness, coupled with a rainstorm prevents her from reaching her destination and she decides to take refuge at the lonely Bates Motel, just off the highway. Bad move.|
Based on the Robert Bloch novel of the same name, this was considered by most to be The Master of Suspense's career-defining movie ~ The Lord
Hitchcock pulled an ace with this one. I can't really add anything. Even if you've seen it a hundred times, admire the audience manipulation by the master. ~ The Sloth
