Psycho

1960

Alfred Hitchcock
Director
Paramount
Production Company

Real estate secretary Marion Crane (Leigh) is overwhelmed by the temptation to steal $40,000 from her boss when he entrusts her to deposit the money in the bank. Instead, she flees with the cash across the state to be with her debt-stricken boyfriend with the intention of helping him out. Tiredness, coupled with a rainstorm prevents her from reaching her destination and she decides to take refuge at the lonely Bates Motel, just off the highway. Bad move.
Based on the Robert Bloch novel of the same name, this was considered by most to be The Master of Suspense's career-defining movie ~ The Lord

Hitchcock pulled an ace with this one. I can't really add anything. Even if you've seen it a hundred times, admire the audience manipulation by the master. ~ The Sloth

The script to the movie can be found here.
