The Saint Strikes Back

1939

John Farrow
Director

Sanders' first foray as Simon Templar is fun, but not as fun as later entries, mainly due to a muddled script and a lacklustre lead in Barrie. Hale's put-upon Inspector and Fitzgerald's gnome of a safecracker help make up for the faults, though.

Second of nine Saint feature films, and first of five starring Sanders.
