A Scotland Yard superintendent (Greenstreet) proudly claims responsibility for the hanging of a criminal. However, it later emerges the man hanged was innocent and the detective is forced to resign. The new replacement boasts that such a similar mistake will not happen again whilst he is in charge. This encourages the former detective to prove him wrong, and leads into a fantastic final twist at the end of the film.
What a great movie, directed by a young Don Siegel, which unfortunately is extremely hard to find on DVD (it was released in 2008 in USA only).
