Independence Day

ID4

1996

Roland Emmerich
Director

Re-release for Roland Emmerich's not-so-cunningly reworked version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. Ludicrous but a great action flick, buoyed by Will Smith's infectious charm.
-The Sloth

No, it's not original. The characters and their stereotypes are all meshuggah, and the science equally so. There are enough tropes in it's two-plus hours ot fill an entire website describing them. But it all comes together, and if you don't cheer at the end, you are missing a vital link in your movie DNA.
