Usual tale of repressed British sexuality set during the outbreak of war. However, I was beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about, when in the closing section, Vanessa Redgrave steps up to bat and hits the ball right out of the park as the older Briony.
Hey, Briony, just because you wrote some sappy little story fifty years later doesn't make up for the fact you ruined two peoples' lives because you were a nosy little brat. God I hate McEwan's novel! Movie is beautifully done, though, and almost surpasses the pomposity of it's source. Almost.
