Caravan to Vaccarès

1974

Geoffrey Reeve
Director

Interesting adventure/mystery film based on the novel of the same title by Alistair McLean. American Neil Bowman comes to Vaccares at the request of the Duc De Croyter, but when he arrives, the Duc (at first) pretends not to know who he is. But before long, Bowman discovers the reason for his presence, and has to deal with smugglers, kidnapping and murder, all of which takes place around a gypsy festival. A literate script, and good direction from Geoffrey Reeve, as well as nice performances by Michael Lonsdale, Michael Bryant and Marcel Bozzuffi.
