The australian small town of Paris struggles to survive a depression. They have an abnormally high accident rate on the road in and out of town, and curiously every one lives off car parts, car wrecks and used cars. Arthur Waldo (Terry Camilleri), a miraculous survivor of a wreck, discovers the town’s terrible secret in which the mayor Len Keely (John Meillon) and Dr Midland (Kevin Miles), a brain surgeon are implicated.
Early effort from brilliant director Peter Weir, revolves around bizarre town that makes its living hijacking cars. For fans (me included), but does boast some arresting visuals, notably the spiky VW.
