To paraphrase Marx, "all film history repeats, first as tragedy, and then as farce." The same tired plot, the same bland characters, all forced to push nostalgia buttons so Abrams doesn't have to expend any effort in making something original. But that's what hacks do. What should have been a triumphant culmination of nearly a half-century of sci-fi history instead becomes the sloppy wet fart at the end of a huge meal. Go watch the original three and Rogue One, and forget the others exist.
Hopefully now that this is out of the way, some filmmakers with actual vision will create their own ideas of the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is a good start.
It was slightly better than alright. but, whatever you do, don't think about the plot too much.
I would have liked a plot twist where the Stormtroopers unionized, secured minimum wage, better training and equipment (like armour that works), but you can't have everything.
