Ridley Scott's atmospheric gothic sci-fi horror begat James Cameron's slam-bang action-thriller with slime. Cameron makes his collection of macho marines endearing and Sigourney is spell-binding. Highly recommended.
-The Sloth
Lone survivor of the first film awakens from hypersleep 57 years later, to find that the planet where the aliens were first found is now a human colony--a colony with which contact has been lost. Accompanying the Marines sent to investigate, Ripley has to face the xenomorph once again, only this time there are a LOT of them. . .
Probably the perfect action movie, because it has action and heart behind the gunplay. And it's a pleasure to watch a film where the supporting characters all get their moments in the spotlight and aren't just cardboard cutouts there as cannon fodder.
Followed by two unnecessary and lackluster sequels, the imaginatively named Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection.
Just trying a little bit different format this time. . .
