The Curse of the Fly

1965

Don Sharp
Director
20th Century Fox Film Corporation
Studio

Continuing saga of the Delambre family and their attempts to perfect a teleportation device. Unfortunately love and mutation interfere, as they always seem to do.

Interesting final entry in the Fly film series is ostensibly set in the same Quebec milleau as the first two films, but is unmistakably British. Actually it is much more akin to a Quatermass film than either of its predecessors (I doubt the casting of Donlevy was an accident). Also one of the few horror films I can think of where the love story is part of the plot and not needlessly tacked on. Sadly neglected for many years, with no official VHS or DVD release until 2007! Hopefully it will become more well-known in the future (and get a better rating than the 5.2 it currently has on IMDb).
