|Following on from the success of the previous years' Halloween, John Carpenter returns to direct another wonderfully crafted horror about a fog bank which rolls in and smothers the small coastal town of Antonio Bay, California. Haunted by the history of the town, when, one hundred years ago to the day, a bunch of sailors perished in the waters around Spivey Point after they were misled by a burning campfire, causing their boat to crash into the rocks.|
The 2-disc Special Edition DVD features an excellent scene-for-scene audio commentary from director John Carpenter and producer Debra Hill, plus documentaries, out-takes and more; which is more than can be said about the UK Blu-Ray release which is devoid of any extras (typical of Optimum Releasing and their pathetic attitude towards marketing strategy). ~ The Lord
One of the best cinematic Ghost stories. Carpenter at the top of his game. Lots of in jokes for fans and movie buffs and, best of all, some good scares. Lots of good extras on this long-awaited Special Edition. Happy birthday, Antonio Bay.
PS. Ignore the remake and hope it goes away! ~ The Sloth
