Intergalactic bully, Sador, makes himself unpleasant to the inhabitants of the peaceful planet Akir. The Akirians decide to find themselves some mercenaries as defenders.
Thinly disguised sci-fi remake of The Seven Samurai (Akir - Akira Kurosawa, gettit?) or The Magnificent Seven (complete with Robert Vaughan reprising his role) for the Star Wars generation.
Boasting quite good production values for a Roger Corman film, this was fun at the time but time has not been kind and the cheesy factor looms large these days. Fun moments abound though, George Peppard's wiener roast for example and Sybil Danning's cleavage which makes the film more watchable than the three Star Wars prequels alone.
