The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad!

1988

David Zucker
Director

The big movie spin-off from the failed tv series, Police Squad!, has bumbling Lt. Frank Drebin (Nielsen) and co. foiling an assassination attempt on Queen Elizabeth II when she pays a visit to Los Angeles.
Widely respected and world famous it may be, but I'm afraid it looks rather dated now and although there are still some decent moments, it's one of those films where once you've seen it once it isn't fresh anymore. That is just my opinion.

A note about the DVD: the audio commentary track is one of the best, a full scene-by-scene from director David Zucker, producer Robert Weiss and uncredited script writer Peter Tilden with trivia galore about the making of the movie.

Followed by two sequels,
The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell Of Fear (1991), and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994).
