Nerdy health food store owner (and amateur jazz musician) goes to hospital for a minor operation, but instead wakes up 200 years later in a very 1970s looking future.

Allen's mix of H.G. Wells, Buster Keaton and Dixieland jazz is probably not for everyone, and some of the jokes are dated, but this is still his single most joyously funny movie, and a loving salute to silent comedy as well. Worth it just to see Keaton's dead-on Brando imitation.

The future shown here might indeed be a totalitarian state, but can any place (or any time) with the Orgasmatron really be that bad?
