Sparrows Can't Sing
Cockney Sparrows Can't Sing
1963
Joan Littlewood
Director
Sailor returns home after two years to find his wife shacked up with someone else. Slice of East End life is a time capsule of the period and the trappings are now more interesting than the soapish plot.
Points too for a great cast including future on the buses alumni Stephen Lewis (also the co-writer) and Bob Grant and man about the house co-stars, Yootha Joyce and Brian Murphy.
