Superman

1978

Richard Donner
Director
Warner Brothers
Production Company

The origins of Superman and how he comes to set up home in Metropolis, USA. If that wasn't enough, the nefarious Lex Luthor has an evil scheme...

Lavish Superman spectacular with a perfect Superman in Chris Reeve. The self importance of the first half doesn't quite gel with the broad comedy of the second, so from that point of view, I'm much happier with the sequel.

Followed by:
Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987).
