Missing link is unearthed and does the rampaging thing. Let's hear it for Michael Gough, who manages to keep a straight face throughout. Joan Crawford's last appearance. Dreadful in a I-must-have-this kind of way.
Utterly awful film, manly because there is no character depth or motivation for anything that happens in the film. Crawford has noble motives because she is a scientist, the police are thick-headed because they are policeman, and Gough is a obnoxious jackass because he's in yet another Herman Cohen film. One has to give credit to Joe Cornelius as Trog; he manages to bring off some pathos to his character, even while saddled with a lousy makeup job that, as Bernard Kay states, "looks like something form a university rag week."
I don't know what is more embarassing: that the scientists show pictures of dinosaur skeletons to Trog and expect him to recognize them, or that the filmmakers actually expected Trog would recognize them. One doesn't learn prehistoric history from Flintstones reruns!
