Four guys get in way over their heads when they lose a ton of money in a rigged poker game with a crime lord. Given just seven days to repay their debt they stumble upon a drugs deal going down in the building next door and set out to relieve them of their money, not realising the men they are dealing with are very nasty gangland criminals. Very watchable black comedy/gangster thriller set in South London with some great touches of humour from Guy Ritchie's script and delivered with wonderful timing by a likeable cast. The film is dedicated to legend The Guv'nor, who died whilst making the movie (in real life as well as on film). ~ Lord Heath
Hugely entertaining tale of guns and gangsters, as a poker game goes all wrong for our luckless heroes and they end up in debt to the mob. The success of this film has led to a slew of clones and the director to wedded bliss with Madonna, but the original still holds sway against the wannabes. Highly recommended. ~ The Sloth See also Snatch (2000).
