A new villain appears in Gotham City in the shape of mad, bad and dangerous to know Joker. In his way stand District Attorney, Harvey Dent, Police Lt. Gordon and, the Batman.
A juicy role for Ledger which he absolutely makes the most of. Not the best film, ever, ever as some might want you to believe, but grim, dark and efficient nevertheless. Violence almost on a par with Ichii the Killer - so beware that PG-13 rating. ~ The Sloth
Filmed partly with IMAX cameras (you will see which scenes are which when you watch the film on BluRay - these are in 1.85:1 ratio and look absolutely incredible. If ever somebody wanted a demonstration in the capabilities of high definition for home entertainment then I encourage you to watch the opening scene (the helicopter zoom shot into the buildings) in HD. After this, you will want to discard your DVDs and embrace Blu's!
The movie was made all the more popular by Ledger's unfortunate death and his rather strangely awarded posthumous Academy Award for his role as the Joker. Even more strange is the inclusion on the IMDb's top 20 best movies of all time - which it most definitely isn't. ~ The Lord
