Magazine stages a publicity stunt by having its popular food writer host a survivor of a torpedoed destroyer for Christmas. Said food writer is hardly Martha Stewart, though, just a talented creator of fiction.
Not really a Christmas film, but a very charming and amusing romantic comedy with an excellent cast. Stanwyck and Morgan have good chemistry, and the supporting cast shines (especially S.Z. Sakall). One can hardly imagine this with Bette Davis in the lead, as was originally intended.
Remade as a TV movie in 1992, directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, no less. It's about as awful as you would imagine.
